Rebar Layout Mapping Humble, TX
Humble, TX
Project Overview
OmniVueNDT conducted a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey to map the steel reinforcement layour within a concrete slab-on-grade at two adjacent areas in Humble, TX. The objective was to provide accurate as-built reinforcement data to support future construction and structural modifications.
A high-frequency GPR system, utilizing a GSSI SIR-4000 data collection unit (See Picture 1), was deployed to ensure high-resolution subsurface imaging. The collected data was processed into a detailed reinforcement layout for engineering use.

Scan Parameter Setup
Scan Area Definition - The scanning grid was established based on project specifications.
Scan Line Increment - A 4-inch spacing was applied in both lateral and longitudinal directions, optimizing resolution for reinforcement detection (See Picture 2).

Data Processing & Visualization
Upon completion of the scanning process:
Radar Data Interpolation - The collected GPR data was processed to generate a 3D radar image of the reinforcement layout.
Digital Reinforcement Mapping - The final dataset provided an accurate representation of the steel reinforcement configuration within the concrete slab (See Picture 3).
As-Built Information for Engineering Use - The processed data can be integrated into structural assessments, construction planning or CAD modeling for further project development.

Project Outcome & Engineering Benefits
By applying non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, OmniVueNDT delivered precise subsurface mapping, ensuring:
Accurate identification of rebar layout for safe drilling and structural modifications.
Minimized risk of reinforcement damage during future construction.
Seamless data integration with CAD and structural design platforms.
This assessment provides critical structural insights, supporting engineering decisions and project efficiency while preserving the integrity of the reinforced concrete slab.
